iFinancial’s 2019 Annual Report

March 4, 2020

Helping our clients live intentional lives while making the financial planning process understandable is our goal. As investment advisors, we operate as fiduciaries, which means we are obligated to act in your best interest, avoid conflicts of interest, disclose all material facts fully and completely, act with utmost good faith, and not mislead clients.

“Any fool can know. The point is to understand”

--Albert Einstein

It has been three years since our last annual report. As a firm we have implemented a great many changes during the last three years and therefore it seems appropriate to resurrect our annual report and let you know about some of the more meaningful changes. Note that all of these changes have been implemented with you in mind. We come to work each day to help you reach your financial goals and allow you to focus on the other areas of your life.

When we embarked on the process of change, we knew that we had a lot of questions but not many answers. We figured the best place to start was with you, our clients. So, we convened a Client Advisory Council to ask questions, to listen, and most importantly to better understand how we can provide the service you expect. The council met four times over the course of a year. There was a lot of great discussion and insight obtained, but the recurrent theme was a desire to be informed. The desired information ranged from the personal (how am I doing) to the broad (the economy, financial markets, taxes, etc.). Additionally, there was an expressed desire to have access to this information from a multitude of platforms.

As a result of that feedback, we took a variety of steps. The first was to adopt the M•A•P software program. This program allows us to model a variety of scenarios as well as provide you access to your information and plan whenever you want from any internet connected device you may have. Further, since the platform allows you to link assets from almost any institution, you can have a complete picture of your financial situation at all times.

In response to the desire for ease of communication, we began using both Constant Contact and Calendly software. Constant Contact allows us to communicate timely information via e-mail and is the platform on which both Kevin and Jake distribute their blogs. We began using Calendly to facilitate the setting of appointments. The software allows you to pick the date and time for an appointment that works best for you and places that appointment on our calendar as well as yours.

In addition to the above, many of you know that Jake has been producing a podcast, Jake of All Trades, for almost three years which has been downloaded more than 12,000 times. We have also reviewed and updated all of our operating procedures. In recognition that many of the variables involved in financial planning are constantly changing, you deserve to work with a professional staff. Therefore, as of December 2019, all of our staff have obtained at least a securities license; in addition, Denise has obtained her Financial Paraplanner Qualified Professional™ designation and Jake became an Enrolled Agent with the IRS. Jake is now able to deliver tax planning and preparation services for you.

Each of these steps, and many others we have not mentioned, were taken in an effort to help you make financial decisions that are individualized to your situation, informed and intentional. We thank you for allowing us to work with you and look forward to many more years of working together.
